We want the Government to reinstate the BDUK Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme funding in England to enable alternative broadband suppliers across the country to get our kids online. There are schemes still available in Wales and Scotland but the English one was discontinued in 2019. We don’t think that’s fair

Dear <insert your MP’s name here> ,
I am a local resident concerned about the effects of school closures on children’s education. I really do feel more needs to be done to help ensure as many rural children as possible with poor broadband can get online quickly, especially now, after the recent announcement that schools will be closed until mid-February at the earliest.
I am supporting the national campaign to reinstate the Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme, which provide funding to help families in England with costs for alternative broadband solutions from a range of different suppliers.
I am aware that you have been contacted by a company called SimRush which is leading the initiative to have this supplier-neutral funding reinstated. There is funding for this purpose available in Scotland and Wales, but nothing in England.
I am writing to ask you if you will please consider tabling an urgent question to Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the Rt Hon Oliver Dowden CBE MP asking if the Government will consider reinstating the “Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme” to help enable school children who are being disadvantaged in areas by poor fixed-line broadband, to get connected quickly by alternative means.
It would be great if you could also encourage other MPs to support this very worthwhile campaign to improve remote education prospects for children who do not have adequate access to the internet.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Thank you and kind regards,
